NATURAL DISASTER

A natural event such as a flood, earthquake, or hurricane that causes great damage or loss of life.
A natural disaster is a major bad event caused by the natural processes of the Earth. Examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis and other geologic processes.
A natural disaster is a sudden, catastrophic event caused by natural processes of the Earth. Different types of natural disasters include floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions and many more. There are varying estimates that peg the number of natural disasters per year across the world in the range of 500-1000. Some of the most recent examples include the Kaikoura (New Zealand) earthquake on 14 November 2016 , the Nepal earthquake in 2015, the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Earthquake in 2005 in Pakistan.

Achieve rapid and effective recovery. Disaster management aims to reduce, or avoid the potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and appropriate assistance to victims of disaster, and achieve rapid and effective recovery.

Aims and Objectives

  • To engage in activities this may help in minimizing the damages caused by disasters especially in rural areas.

  • To make endeavors towards creating awareness among the people about disasters and its consequences and to prepare them in advance to face such situations and to ensure their participation in the disaster mitigation plans.
  • To engage in activities directed towards spreading literacy among minorities, most backward classes, tribal and economically deprived communities and to ensure community participation and income oriented generation of literacy and professional skills.
  • Children specially those who are the victims of floods, droughts, earthquake and similar other disasters in rural and urban areas.
  • To make efforts for the identification and elimination of child labor and to restore children’s rights. For this Centre intends to provide economic incentive to the deserving children in school going category and to actively campaign for the removal of socio-cultural constraints in the community.

  • To establish educational & training institutions for educating communities in the areas of “Disaster Management” and “Rural Development”.
